Writing Prompt #14

The fourteenth daily prompt comes from my notebook. I was flicking through it this morning and realised that in amongst the jottings and fragmented sentences there were at least four plot developments I could use – not all at once – but over this week I’ll use them to develop scenes, characters, drop in a plot twist and add a sub-plot.

I find it both inspiring and hugely satisfying to read other writers’ notebooks and find in their scribbles similar anxieties about writing as well as daft words and ideas.

Here’s a page from Virginia Woolf’s diary – c. University of Sussex Special Collections

The habit of writing for my eye only is good practice. […] It loosens the ligaments.” Virginia Woolf, diary entry
